Following their defeat in the Dunfermline & West Fife by-election, Labour's General Election odds have been lengthened from 4/7 to 4/6 by William Hill, making them the longest they have been since coming to power in 1997.
Hills make the Conservatives 11/10, the shortest they have been since losing power, while the Lib Dems have been cut from 100/1 to 66/1. Hills are also offering 3/1 about a hung parliament next time round.
Gordon Brown has been lengthened from 1/7 to 1/6 favourite to become the next Labour leader by Hills who make David Miliband 8/1 and also offer 16/1 Charles Clarke, 20/1 John Reid, 25/1 Jack Straw, 33/1 David Blunkett.
"The by-election result came as a big shock to politicians and punters alike. The Lib Dems were 10/1 and the biggest bet we took for them was just £200 but the implications of the result do not seem to be very positive for Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and the Labour Party as a whole", said William Hill spokesman Graham Sharpe.
Chris Huhne is 8/13 favourite to become the next Lib Dem leader with Hills who make Sir Menzies Campbell 6/5 and Simon Hughes 16/1 outsider.
