Two Fife school teachers and a parliamentary researcher are battling to become the Labour candidate in the forthcoming Glenrothes by-election.
Kirkcaldy High School rector Lindsay Roy is up for the nomination, along with Colin Davidson, a teacher at Bell Baxter High School, in Cupar.
Kezia Dugdale, who works for Labour MSP Lord Foukles, is the third contender.
The by-election came after death of Labour MP John MacDougall. The candidate will be chosen later.
Mr Roy, a 59-year-old church elder, is a former head teacher at Inverkeithing High School and also served as president of the Headteachers' Association of Scotland.
Mr Davidson, 49, who chairs the north east Fife Labour constituency party, is an active member of the EIS, Scotland's largest teaching union, and previously worked in the motor industry.
The youngest contender, 27-year-old law graduate Ms Dugdale, has campaigned on human rights and housing standards.
Mr MacDougall died in August while battling mesothelioma, an incurable asbestos-related cancer of the lungs.
