Moray by-election, 27 th April 2006

saltire shield'As the main opposition party in Scotland, the Nationalists should benefit from Labour's woes, but until now they have seemed unable to capitalise on the situation. That's why the Moray result is so important for them. They were confident they could hold the seat, but to win with an increased majority and poll more votes than the popular Margaret Ewing had managed before was a victory beyond their expectations.'
