| Lynn Sherridan was originally selected as fourth on the Scottish Socialist Party's Central list but has since joined Solidarity. She is aged 48, a lecturer at Glasgow Caledonian University and is the sister of Tommy Sheridan MSP. She has worked as a bus and a taxi driver and also served in the territoral and regular army. She is also an activist in the trade union UNISON and has been especially involved in promoting the cause of gay rights. Upon her selection as the top Solidarity candidate in Central region, Ms Sheridan said: 'I look forward to campaigning in Central Scotland and I think Solidarity has a real chance of winning a seat as it has the second strongest socialist vote in the country after Glasgow.' | Hugh Kerr was born and brought up in Kilmarnock. He moved to England in search of work and was a factory worker and lumberjack before becoming a university lecturer. He was a Labour Cllr and was elected Labour Member of the European Parliament for Essex West & Hertfordshire Eastfrom 1994 until 1999, being expelled from the Labour party in 1998 for opposing benefit cuts and the suppression of democracy in the party. He joined the Green group and initally sat as an Independent and then as Scottish Socialist Party member. In 1999 and 2003 he was respectively first and third on the SSP's list for the European Parliament. In 2003 he contested East Lothian while living in North Berwick, while in 2005 he stood in Kilmarnock & Loudoun. He is a previous SSP Press Officer.
