| John Swinburne was born on the 4 th July 1930 in Pennsylvania in the USA. The family returned to Scotland when he was seven and he was educated at Dalziel High School in Motherwell. He worked as a mechanical engineer and has also been a freelance journalist. He was Commercial Manager and Press Officer and is currently a Director of Motherwell Football Club. He runs his own consultancy business, the Swinburne Agency. He has written three books, including the history of the Fir Park club. He is married, a Christian and a member of the National Union of Journalists. He formed the SSCUP in early 2003, stating that "Unity" referred to the "United Kingdom" and was elected as the sexth Central Scotion regional MSP. 2. Russell Rodger | ![]() |

| Russell Rodger was born in Cleland, near Motherwell in 1939. He was educated at Cleland Primary School, Wishaw High School and Glasgow University. He worked with Philips Electrical(Hamilton) for a short period before completing teacher training at Jordanhill College. Russell began his teaching career at Lanark Grammar where he was promoted to Principal Teacher of Physics, then Assistant Headteacher, and finally Depute Rector. In 1975, he was appointed Rector of Carluke High school the post from which he retired in 1996. He joined Motherwell Football Club after retiring from teaching and has been involved with the club in various capacities. In 2004 he was appointed General Manager. Russell has been involved with local radio. He helped set up Clan FM and River FM. In 2003, he assisted John Swinburne in setting up the SSCUP.

His interest in the SSCUP was sparked through his friendship and professional association with John Swinburne. He lives in Bellshill and actively supports the manifesto issues laid out by the SSCUP.

| David Thomson became involved with the SSCUP prior to the last election. He works tirelessly for the party in his role as constituency office manager. He is currently nominating officer for the party and a list candidate for the SSCUP in Central Scotland. He was Sixth on the SSCUP list in 2003.
