| James Cruickshank was the editor of 'The Digger' which was published in August 2004 in Possil with a print run of 500 which grew to 6,000. In June 2005, he was banned from Glasgow's police and council press offices and the Sherriff Court. The authorities alleged that The Digger was often libellous and has broken the Editors' Code of Practice. In 2003, James Cruickshank was was expelled from the NUJ after publishing a union-funded newsletter that the union leadership claimed was "libellous, breached the union's own Code of Conduct and was factually incorrect". James Cruickshank believed he was being gagged by the City authorities and commented: "I am standing up to the establishment and they are not having it - they are trying to destroy me.
