'Mr Shoaib's decision to go it alone could split the Asian vote in the Pollokshields area of the city, where the immigration specialist has a large power base and could sweep up much of the Kashmiri vote. He could dent the political ambitions of his former friend's son, Anas Sarwar, who is top of Labour's Holyrood list for Glasgow, as well as Irfan Rabanni, an aide of Mr Sarwar, who is standing for the council in Pollokshields.' | Muhammad Shoaib is a former Labour councillor and ally of Glasgow MP Mohammad Sarwar. In February 2007 he was cleared of fraud for the second time in just over a year, having been refused the right to stand as a Labour council candidate in Pollockshields.
