Johann Lamont was born on the 11 th July in Glasgow and educated at Woodside Secondary School in Glasgow, Glasgow University where she graudated with a MA (Hons), Jordanhill College of Education in Glasgow where she obtained a Postgraduate teaching qualification in History and English and Strathclyde University in Glasgow where she obtained a Certificate in Guidance. She worked as a tecaher, first of Education Support at Castlemilk High, and then of English and History at Rothesay Academy, then Springburn Academy in Glasgow. She is married with two children and is a member of the EIS, the TGWU, the NSPCC, Oxfam, Amnesty International and the Co-operative party. She is an ex Convener of the Parliament's Communities Committee.
