David Campbell Bannerman's great great great grand uncle was the former Scottish Liberal Prime Minister Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman ( 1905-08 ). He has relations in Rogart, the Highlands and Kintore. He was an Edinburgh University student, obtaining an M.A. ( Hons ) in Economics and Politics, including a year at Wharton / University of Pennsylvania, USA. He served with the Universities' Officer Training Corps. He joined UKIP in 2002 and became Chairman of the party in December 2005 after the resignation of Petrina Holdsworth. He stood for leader in 2006, coming third and was appointed Deputy Leader in October 2006. He is currently leading UKIP's drive for radical new policies. Campbell Bannerman was Special Adviser to the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland on the Peace Process 1996-97, was Chairman of the prestigious think tank the Bow Group with 100 MP members, and has been a Tory Westminster Parliamentary candidate and was a Tory Cllr in Tunbridge Wells from 1992 until 1996. He is a Public Relations consultant by profession, but also writes feature film scripts, with interest from producers.
