Stuart Usher is the younger brother of Sir Stuart Usher, the fourth baronet and Sir John Usher, the seventh baronet. The Ushers were one of Scotland's wealthiest and most powerful families during the first half of the century. They made their fortune from the whisky industry but lost it when the fifth and sixth baronets, brothers with Down's syndrome, were unable to control their affairs and died without making wills, resulting in the estate being liquidated and sold off. When Sir John Usher died in South Africa in the summer of 1998, Stuart Usher was named as his attorney. He claimed the firm of Brodies WS, a prominent Edinburgh law firm did not act in the best interest of the executary and beneficiaries and alleged the firm had "refused him access to vital records of the estates and obstructed him as he attempted to ingather the estates of the deceased." Channel Four broadcast a documentary entitled "The Fall of the House of Usher" on Thursday 12th September 2002 ("Cutting Edge" series) concerning his fight against Brodies WS. Stuart recommends all people, "who have fallen victim to Crooked Lawyers and the corrupt Scottish legal system to join him and other victims of these despicable people and organisations to fight for justice and defeat them under the banner of SACL."
