| Pat Smith is a childcare worker. She has been active in socialist politics for 25 years and is on the National Steering Committee of the Stop the War Coalition. She was previously the number 2 candidate on the SSP Lothian list. After her selection as top candidate on the Solidarity Lothians list on 8 th January 2007, Pat Smith said: 'I am proud to be selected to stand as a candidate under the banner of Solidarity, the only principled socialist alternative in Scotland.'
