| Mark Ruskell was born on the 14 th May 1972 in Wisbech in England and educated at Edinburgh Academy, Stevenson College, Aberdeen University where he graduated with an MSc in Sustainable Agriculture and Stirling University where he graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science/Biology. From 1997 to 2000 he was a Development Worker for Falkirk Voluntary Action Resource Centre and from 2000 until 2002 he was a Regeneration Officer for Midlothian Council. From 2002 until his election in 2003 he was a Project Officer with the Soil Association. He is the Party's environment spokesman and has been deputy convener of the environment and rural development committee. In this role he has been the driving force behind the party's climate
change and GM food agenda, and has worked on bills on both these issues. He has also campaigned locally on a range of issues including, recently, proposed ship to ship oil transfers in the Firth of Forth. He convenes the Green Group of MSPs and lives near Dunblane with his wife and baby son.
