Elections to the fourth Scottish Parliament will be held on Thursday 5 th May 2011. As in 1999 and 2003, electors will have two votes, the first to elect their constituency MSP by the first past the post method, and a second vote to elect seven regional MSPs from party or individual lists by the D'Hondt system of proportional representation.

There have boundary changes since 1999 and the 2011 election will be fought using these.

Elections to Scottish councils have been delayed until May 2012.
