On the 19th of May, the five current Cabinet Secretaries remained in office, with three new Cabinet Secretary Positions being created:
Alex Neil was appointed Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure & Capital Investment.
Bruce Crawford was appointed Cabinet Secretary for Parliamentary Business & Government Strategy.
Fiona Hyslop was appointed Cabinet Secretary for Culture & External Affairs.
On the 20th of May, ten Ministers were appointed, the same number as in 2003.
Michael Matheson (MSP for Falkirk West), was appointed Minister for Public Health.
Shona Robison movied to the Commonwealth Games and Sport brief within the Health, Wellbeing and Cities Strategy portfolio.
Aileen Campbell (MSP for Clydesdale) was appoited Minister for Local Government and Planning in the Finance, Employment and Sustainable Growth brief.
Alasdair Allan (MSP for the Western Isles), was appointed Minister for Learning and Skills within Michael Russell's portfolio. Dr Allan was also given responsibility for Gaelic and Scots.
Angela Constance moved to the Children and Young People brief within the Education and Lifelong Learning brief.
Brian Adam (MSP for Aberdeen Donside), was appointed Chief Whip and Minister for Parliamentary Business.
Roseanna Cunningham was appointed Minister for Community Safety and Legal Affairs and was given specific responsibility for tackling sectarianism. She moved from Environment and Climate Change

Fergus Ewing, the previous Community Safety Minister, moved to the post of Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Tourism within John Swinney's portfolio. The previous holder of the post, Jim Mather, stepped down from parliament at the election.
Stewart Stevenson returned to the ministerial team as Minister for Environment and Climate Change.
Keith Brown retained responsibility for Transport and was also given responsibility for Housing as Minister for Housing and Transport.
Adam Ingram left the government from his role as Children and Early Years minister.
