The Scottish Government

saltire shield'Gordon seemed to be in a bad mood and didn't even say good morning, and I found out later in the day why. John Reid rang me to tell me that Wendy Alexander had been forced to pull out of the race for Scottish first minister, because of lack of support and because the unions refused to back her, even though Gordon had tried to get them to override the one-member-one-vote ballot and just nominate her.'
