Wendy Alexander MSP resigned as Labour leader in the Scottish Parliament on the 28 th June 2008 after the Holyrood Standards Committee, acting on a recommendation by Scottish Standards Commissioner, Dr Jim Dyer, ordered that she face a one day ban for accepting illegal donations. Deputy leader, Cathy Jamieson MSP took over as acting leader.
